New Exhibit At Military Museum, Boalsburg (10:00 AM - 4:00 PM)

Ever since the beginning of organized warfare, military leaders have been challenged with feeding armies in the field.  The Pennsylvania Military Museum in Boalsburg, Centre County, will display the history of packaged rations for front line troops in its newest temporary exhibit, The Combat Ration as part of the historical and museum commission's annual theme, The Land of Penn and Plenty:  Bringing History to the Table. 

The exhibit is scheduled to be up through November.  Museum admission is required to veiw the artifacts.  Hours of operation are Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday Noon to 4 p.m.

FREE Family Resource Program For Low Income Families, Mifflintown (9:30 AM - 1:30 PM)

The Penn State Extension is sponsoring a FREE program for families with limited income.  The Family Resource Program consists of four workshops over a four week period.  Workshops will teach participants how to prepare low-cost, healthy meals for their family; how to manage their finances and run their household on a budget.  Lunch, prepared by the participants, will be served at each workshop.  The next Family Resource Program for Juniata County residents will be held in the basement of the Messiah Lutheran Church in Mifflintown.  The program will begin on Wednesday May 3rd from 9:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.  and continue to meet each Wednesday through Thursday May 24th.  Participants who complete all four workshops in the program will receive gifts such as FREE groceries, cleaning supplies and more.  Those interested can register at the following locations, in person or by phone:

Alpha Is Coming!, East Salem (6:00 PM)

Would you enjoy good food, fun and fellowship?  Everyone is invited to prayerfully consider attending, "ALPHA," for everyone who thinks there may be more ot life than meets the eye!  What is Alpha?  Alpha is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed, friendly setting.  Alpha is for everyone!  People attend from all backgrounds and viewpoints.  They come to investigate questions about the existence of God, the purpose of life, the afterlife, the claims of Jesus and more.  Wouldn't it be awesome to get beyond religion and find a relationship with God that really changes life?  What happens at sessions?  Besides the food and fellowship, there is laughter and learning in a fun and friendly atmosphere.  No question about life or God is seen as too simple or too hostile.  Questions like:  "Why am I here?" "Where did I come from?"  "Where am I going?"

Alpha begins on Thursday March 22nd from 6-8 p.m. in the East Salem UMC fellowship hall.  The sessions will continue Thursdays through May 31st.  Childcare will be provided.  Please call Kay Lukens at 717-463-2294 to make arrangements for childcare, for more information and to order study material.

Prepare Childbirth Classes, Lewistown (6:30 PM)

The Family Place at Lewistown Hospital is offering a five week Prepared Childbirth Class on Thursday May 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31 from 6:30-9 p.m.  Classes will be held at Lewistown Hospital. 

This class covers topics including:  pregnancy issues, labor review, medications available during labor, breathing and relaxation techniques and care of Mom and her newborn after delivery.  This class is to be attended by both mother-to-be and her labor partner(s). 

Registration is required.  Call 717-242-7110 or register online at www.lewistownhospital.org under Classes & Events - The Family Place.  The class is offered at no cost for women planning to deliver at Lewistown Hospital.

Red Cross Blood Drive, Millerstown (9:00 AM - 3:00 PM)

There will be a Red Cross Blood Drive at the Millerstown Moose Family Center located at 109 Juniata Parkway West in Millerstown on Saturday May 26th from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.  Double reds technology featured at this drive.  This drive is sponsored by Millerstown Lodge # 925.

The Erman E. Lepley American Legion, Post 23, will be supporting "The Five Barley Loaves" Food Pantry during their Memorial Day Service on Monday May 28th at the Middlecreek Area Community Center. Your non-perishable food donations are appreciated.  The service will being at 9 a.m..  Retired AF Col. Matthew Bobb will be the guest speaker and the West Snyder Community Choir will be performing.
